The local cuisines in Edo state, located in the south-south zone of Nigeria, is a range of meals that are found in most other southern states, however there are some meals that are uniquely tied to their people. Although these indigenous meals have variations in other cultures and places, they are popular within the state and have come to be known as Edo food, as they are believed to have originated from the area.
An industrial and modern city, Abidjan has a number of cultural offerings for business travelers as well as tourists en route to one of the ivory coast’s bountiful beaches. Notable spots include the Galerie d’Arts pluriel,(Rue des jardins) which is run by local arts historian, and the musee National (32 boulevard carde),which houses traditional artworks. The cathedrale st paul (boulevard languraire) is also well worth a visit.
The Alok Monolith Museum is located about an hour’s drive from the famous Ikom ‘four-corner’. The museum is manned by a curator with vast knowledge of the stone circles of monoliths that can be found across Ikom, including the 27 domiciled in Alok alone. The monoliths are historical evidences of human civilisation during the Stone Age era. They also reveal the migration history of the Bantus from the Congo into the Cross River area.
